Sunday trading approved

THE Busselton Chamber of Commerce has won approval for Sunday trading for the South West seaside town.

Fair Trading Minister Doug Shave said Busselton shops could trade between 11:00am and 4:00pm on Sundays.

The Chamber application was made in order to better cater for tourism demand.

“The application was supported by the Shire of Busselton and was consistent with the Government’s policy of accepting the recommendation of regional local government authorities on the issue of trading hours,” Mr Shave said.

Applications for extended trading hours must show that there has been appropriate consultation with local trader organisations, tourism interests and local members of State Parliament.

Applications must also ensure that all traders know that they have the discretion to open or close if trading hours are extended.
