Below is a press release regarding the awards:
The Internet is the most popular and massively expanding mainstream media outlet in the world - and website designers, developers and business people have been showing they're ahead of the curve by nominating in record numbers for the third annual WA Web Awards.
WA Web Awards Coordinator, Myles Eftos, says this year the most popular category in the awards is Small Business, proving this is a rapid growth area for websites.
"The web industry is one that is maturing steadily," Mr Eftos says, "and that's reflected in the increase in volume and quality of this year's entries."
The WA Web Awards, which will be held on Friday night, the 17th of August, is an official event organised by AWIA, the Australian Web Industry Association (formerly Port80 Inc). The glittering dinner and awards night, to be hosted by Gerry Gannon at Perth's Duxton Hotel, is designed as a showcase of the outstanding work of West Australian web designers and developers.
This will be the third year that the WA Web Awards programme has been run by AWIA, which has become the largest Australian web industry association. Whilst there are other Australian special interest groups covering web and the Internet, AWIA is the largest, dedicated web industry association of its kind in Australia.
WA Web Awards Platinum Sponsor, FAST.hit says it's pleased to be part of the Web Awards success story.
"FAST.hit Web Hosting works closely with web development firms and the importance of such a partnership cannot be underestimated. We make sure websites stay online, do daily backups and provide access to technology and tools which make web designers' lives easier," said FAST.hit's Guennadi Moukine.
Other sponsors include: Edith Cowan University, Microsoft, PerthNow, TheBroth.com, Central Tafe and software distributor, NewLease.
