Public submissions are invited as part of a Local Government Advisory Board review of structural and electoral reform in local government in Western Australia.
The review was called by Local Government and Regional Development Minister, John Bowler on October 5.
An issues paper has now been released for public comment by key stakeholders and members of the public.
Some of the issues raised in the paper include:
Identifying local governments where amalgamations may be appropriate;
Identifying other approaches to improving the sustainability of local government; and
Eligibility for voting at council elections.
A series of public meetings around ther state is planned from next week.
