Strategic Marine has announced it will build a 24-metre heavy duty cargo catamaran for Offshore Plant Hire.
The vessel will be built at Strategic’s Singapore facility, which is currently undergoing an expansion which will double its capacity.
Strategic Marine chief marketing officer Terry O’Connor said he was encouraged by the company’s record in winning repeat work with clients such as Offshore Plant Hire.
The company delivered a 27-metre work barge to Offshore earlier this year.
"It demonstrates confidence in our ability to deliver quality products," Mr O'Connor said.
"Australia is one of our focus markets and continues to provide increased opportunities in vessel construction, heavy fabrication and engineering projects, as well as providing supply base and maritime logistic support to local markets, which is all part of our diversification strategy.
Mr O’Connor said the latest win followed contracts for fabrication and design work at John Holland’s coal seam gas operations in Queensland on the QLNG and GLNG gas terminal projects and another to build pontoon structures for the Sydney Harbour Wharf Upgrade project.
