Following a win at the shareholders meeting earlier this week, Gary Stokes has been appointed as chief executive and managing director of West Australian Metals Ltd.

On Monday, shareholders voted to oust non-executive director Terrence Shanahan and appoint Mr Stokes, Kevin Judge and David Sanders to the board.

The appointment follows a requisition made by shareholders Vargas Holdings Pty Ltd, Kaliara Nominees Pty Ltd and Mallee Minerals Pty Ltd, with stakeholder Roger Nikolaenko heading the group.

Mr Stokes takes the CEO role from Leon Reisgys who continues to serve as a technical director while Mr Judge was been elected as non-executive chairman, taking over from Rodger Johnston.

Mr Johnston remains as a non-executive director along with Mr Sanders.

WAM said Mr Stokes will receive a remuneration package of $280,000 inclusive of superannuation.
