Stokes joins Perth Arts Festival Board

The executive director of Seven Group Ryan Stokes has been appointed to the board of the Perth International Arts Festival and Michael Smith as been appointed board Chairman for a further four years.

Mr Smith has been on the board since 2002 and was appointed Chair in 2004.

The Vice-Chancellor of UWA Professor Alan Robson has welcomed the new members of the Board.

He congratulated Mr Smith on his achievements.

"As the Festival continues to exemplify the University's values of international excellence I congratulate it on its achievements and welcome Ryan Stokes to the Board," said Professor Robson.

"I look forward to continuing my leadership of the Board at a time when the Festival is poised to enter a new era of growth and ambition as well as extraordinary artistic achievement under a new Artistic Director," said Mr Smith.

Last week the Festival announced Englishman Jonathan Holloway will be joining the team as the new artistic director from 2012.
