Property group Stockland has been announced as the government’s preferred joint venture partner for the redevelopment of the Craigie High School site, the fourth high school site redevelopment in Perth since 2005.
Buildings on the 10-hectare land parcel were demolished in 2004 in order to convert the site into a residential estate.
Stockland WA development manager Graham McArthur said initial designs for the site, to be developed through a partnership with LandCorp, put the number of residences between 150 and 180.
“One of the prime outcomes of the project will be the preservation of the sand dune ridge, which forms part of the public open space,” Mr McArthur said.
He said the company hoped that construction would start in mid 2009.
Meanwhile, property developer Mirvac has sold nearly all of its residential lots at the former Swanbourne High School site, and has completed the first tranche of terrace homes being built on the site previously occupied by Hollywood High School.
Of the 51 home sites available in the Swanbourne development, five sites remain for sale, with the company’s second release having been completed last October.
The release of vacant lots achieved an average sale price of $940,000, slightly lower than the $950,000 average posted by the first release.
The 6.7ha project, which is expected to be completed in mid-2010, also contains 52 luxury apartments and 22 terraced and courtyard homes.
The first stage of Mirvac’s Hollywood development in Nedlands, consisting of eight terrace homes, has also been completed, with a further nine homes to be released mid year.
The development has a total of 75 lots, with a mixture of home sites, terrace homes and a group housing lot.
The government is also expected to announce its joint venture partner for the development of the former Carine TAFE site in the next few months.
A structure plan for the 7.9ha site is expected to begin later this year.
