CPA Congress 99 features a line-up of high-profile speakers to keep you entertained, as well as informed.

From football star Chris Mainwaring to politician, writer and quiz show king Barry Jones, CPA Congress promises a wealth of information.

Congress, to be held from May 5 to 7, is not just for accountants. It is an event for those wanting to keep abreast of the latest developments in the finance and business world.

The Sir Charles Court Accounting Oration will be delivered by Professor Y.T. Kee. A consultant to many high-profile corporations and government organisations, Professor Kee can change the way people think about their businesses.

Other keynote speakers include futurist Peter Ellyard on the topic of Planning for Uncertainty.

For a glimpse into the worlds of sport and the arts, West Coast Eagles star Chris Mainwaring and the incoming director of the Festival of Perth, Sean Doran, are on hand.

International guests include CIBC World Markets managing director in Singapore Russell Cranwell, who will examine the real impact of the Asian financial crisis and Nigel Baldrick, a senior consultant to British Treasury, who will outline a radical new proposal for outsourcing the tax collection system in the UK.

On the lighter side, veteran journalist and author Cyril Ayris will provide a humourous insight into the day of a working newspaperman.

The society’s central Congress theme is Future Solutions and illustrates how people and organisations can be equipped to deal with new and innovative ideas and methods.
