Construction companies EMCO Building, Georgiou Group and Universal Constructions are among five businesses to have been awarded significant contracts from the state government over the past month.
Osborne Park-based EMCO secured a $13.3 million contract with the Department of Finance for the construction of the new Sunningdale Primary School in Yanchep, with works expected to complete in November.
The company beat out four other submissions for the award.
Universal Constructions has been tasked with building stage 1 of the new Southern River primary school, after being awarded a $5.3 million contract by the Department of Finance.
The stage 1 construction works are due to complete in September.
Georgiou Group, also based in Osborne Park, secured a $7.7 million contract with Public Transport Authority of WA for bulk earthworks and drainage at land in Kenwick, where PTA plans to build a new rail freight facility.
The scope of works include the clearing and removal of remaining trees, vegetation, fences and miscellaneous rubbish from the site, as well as the installation of stormwater pipe drainage including pits, pipes, stone pitching, fittings and retention basins.
Works are expected to complete in September.
Meanwhile, ACorp Construction secured a $6 million contract with the Department of Communities to build 10 residential units on Davidson Street in Kalgoorlie.
The company will also develop an administration and communal building and provide landscaping services at the site.
Works are due to finish in January 2021.
CIMIC Group subsidiary Ventia has been awarded a $7 million contract with Main Roads Western Australia for the construction of a road train assembly area (RTAA) on Madigan Road in Karratha.
Ventia has also been tasked with widening Madigan Road to accommodate an entrance to the RTAA and constructing a 2.1-kilometre overtaking lane on North West Coastal Highway.
Scheduled completion of the works has not yet been confirmed.
