Prominent child health expert and Australian of the Year Fiona Stanley has been honoured by public health campaigners for her inspiring contribution to improving the health of Australians, including her recent leading role in the push for mandatory folate fortification of food products. The renowned professor, who heads Perth’s Telethon Institute for Child Health Research, was awarded life membership to the Public Health Association of Australia (PHAA), which held its annual conference in Perth last week.
