WESTERN Australia is in contention to snatch a second sporting event from Queensland – the 2007 World Netball Championships.
WA recently secured the rights to host the Surf Lifesaving Championships from 2007 to 2010, previously held in Queensland for 10 years.
The netball tender will be presented alongside a bid from Queensland to the International Netball Federation this month.
The event could generate $4.8 million in direct spending and attract 2,600 interstate and overseas visitors to WA. The Australian State announced on August 16 then needs to win the event over Fiji and South Africa.
