Southern Cross wins $55m NSW infrastructure contract

Southern Cross Electrical Engineering has been awarded a $55 million electrical instrumentation installation contract at the Westconnex M5 road project in NSW.

The contract was awarded to SCEE’s Sydney-based subsidary, Heyday, by Westconnex M5 joint venture contractor CPB Dragados Samsung.

The work includes the installation of electrical cabling for tunnel and emergency lighting, system communications and closed circuit TV.

The expected completion date for the works under the contract is November 2019.

Southern Cross managing director Graeme Dunn said the contract was a significant award for the company in the transport infrastructure sector.

“This demonstrates a clear vindication of our strategy, combining across the group relationships, large project experience and our strengthened balance sheet, to enable us to win and perform projects of this scale and nature,” he said.

“We look forward to working with CDSJV in the upcoming period on this exciting opportunity.”

In the past 18 months, Southern Cross have won more than $280 million worth of contracts in NSW.

Shares in Southern Cross were unchanged at 70 cents each at 3pm AEDT.
