South Perth proves very popular

THE growing attraction for property with redevelopment potential in South Perth was demonstrated recently when six housing blocks came under the hammer by real estate company Windslade & Lawrance.

The properties, which comprise six older-style brick and tile properties of a generous size of more than 1,000 square metres, are located in Ryrie, Todd and Monash Avenues, Como.

Winslade & Lawrance spokesman Jim Ingram said only one block of land was sold at auction for $232,000 and another four were currently being negotiated.

Conceding the blocks were not prime land, he felt the prices represented ‘fair value’ for the area.

The land is zoned R20 with a proposed zoning of R15/20 under the City of South Perth Planning Scheme Six.

South Perth and neighbouring suburbs such as Victoria Park and Como are again becoming popular with residents. Its near-city location is making it popular with young professionals.
