TOURISM sites around King George Sound, Oyster Harbour and Princess Royal Harbour will be upgraded and developed under a joint local community and government plan.
The ambitious project will see the upgrading and development of four existing sites including the under-utilised Camp Quaranup and Whaleworld as well as the development of of the planned Marina complex.
Middleton Beach and the Mount Martin Botanical Park will also receive attention as part of the project.
The project is expected to be rolled out over a five-year period from 2001-05 and create, directly or indirectly, an additional 1,600 jobs in the local tourism industry.
