THE Property Council of Australia has called on the WA Government to use preparations for the State budget to remove policies retarding WA’s property industry.
Property Council WA executive director Joe Lenzo has submitted a fifteen page solutions statement to WA Premier Richard Court in time for it to be considered in the lead-up to the budget.
The submission addresses taxation, heritage, planning, building legislation and infrastructure policies.
Mr Lenzo said the WA Government could not afford to ignore the needs of the property industry and property owners in a potential election year.
“The State Government’s stamp duty slug on top of GST is bad policy,” Mr Lenzo said.
“Existing land tax is also inconsistently applied, which costs the community dearly.
“The Government would be well advised to seriously consider our proposals and put them into action via the upcoming State budget,” he said.
