Ms Charlton received the award for her work as Fremantle team leader of the Department of Child Protection, where her team supports up to 90 children. The awards are sponsored by educational and community groups, as well as the corporate sector.
KPMG, public sector superannuation provider GESB, and Hays Recruiting are the corporate sponsors for the award.
In the past four years the budget for the DCP has grown by more than 50 per cent to $536 million, while the number of case workers has increased from 530 to 780.
