Small festival and pop-up bar push for WA

A Labor government would aim to cut red tape so more micro-festivals could be held across Western Australia, according to party leader Mark McGowan, but the Liberals say changes to deregulate the liquor industry are already under way.

Mr McGowan pledged to make it easier for existing venues to host pop-up bars in small spaces such as laneways, streets, streetscapes, parks and open spaces.

"One of the great complaints by venues across the state is how hard it is to set up a festival on land surrounding existing venues," Mr McGowan told reporters today.
