Skywest also said it would expand routes from Geraldton to the eastern seaboard and Melbourne from July.
For the fleet upgrade, the regional carrier announced it had acquired an option to lease an Airbus A320-231 and has signed a letter of intent to purchase an additional Fokker 100 jet aircraft.
Skywest also said its alliance with Virgin Australia could result in a doubling of its fleet size, with the addition of up to 18 additional ATR-72 Aircraft.
At close of trade today Skywest shares were steady at 50 cents.
