Over Wednesday November 17 and Thursday November 18 the Perth branch of the Australian Institute of Energy and the Office of Energy will host the Sixth Energy in Western Australia Conference at the Sheraton Hotel.
Keynote speakers at the conference will be Minister for Energy, Treasurer and Deputy Premier the Hon Eric Ripper, Western Power Corporation managing director Tony Iannello, Apache Energy managing director Eve Howell, Alinta general manager energy markets Andrew George, Independent Electricity Market Operator Ontario director markets assessment and compliance Harry Chandler, Office of Energy co-ordinator of energy Anne Nolan and Australian Pipeline Trust chief executive officer Jim McDonald.
Topics on the agenda at the conference include an update on energy policy issues in WA, the status of WA electricity reform, a presentation on Ontario’s wholesale market, the establishment of an electricity market in the South West Interconnected System, a case study on the US electricity market restructuring and what can be learned from the experience there, developments in greenhouse science and the implications for the energy sector, and a panel discussion on visions for energy in Western Australia.
The conference will also explore an Energy for Minerals Development Study (South West Coast Region of WA), discuss upstream oil and gas from state, national and international standpoint, trends and developments in the LNG market and their impact on the North West Shelf and Alinta’s expanding role in the WA energy sector.
