Simulus takes national win

IN a win for the profile of small business in Western Australia, a Perth process simulation consultancy has won a National Telstra Business Award. Simulus was named as the National MYOB business of the year, with the award presented to its entire staff at a ceremony in Sydney last Saturday night. Open to businesses with more than five employees but less than 20, the award is part of a program to recognise the achievements of Australian small businesses. Simulus general manager Jason Stirbinskis said all at the business were "ecstatic to make it to the finals, as this meant we were in the top 0.5 per cent of all submissions". Founded by Brett Muller and Tim Newton, previously independent contractors to the resource sector, Simulus has grown to a team of 16 employees, with projects on every continent, except Antarctica, and an office in Brazil.
