The steady growth in international tourism over 2003-04 continued into the first month of 2004-05, with the seasonally adjusted number of short-term visitor arrivals to Australia increasing by 6,600 (1.5 per cent) to 438,800 between June and July. In the year to July 2004, visitor arrivals increased by 12.5 per cent.
In trend terms, short-term visitor arrivals increased by 0.8 per cent over the month, and rose by 3.9 per cent through the year, to July 2004.
