Primary Industry Bursary Award
Sarah Arnold is this year’s winner of the Department of Agriculture primary industry bursary.
Ms Arnold, who is in her first year of natural resource management studies at the University of Western Australia, beat off 27 other 2002 Year 12 applicants planning to commence agriculture, agri-business, animal science, natural resource management, horticulture, viticulture and oenology, or aquaculture study this year.
In her application, Ms Arnold submitted that the range of employment opportunities within agriculture had diversified, even though the traditional view of the industry remained farming and production focussed.
The bursary provides an annual $7,000 over four years, and the possibility of summer employment with the Department of Agriculture.
