FIGURES from the Australia Bureau of Statistics have shown that Perth’s first homebuyers have increased 44.3 per cent in the three months to June 2005 compared with the same period in 2004. The increase coincides with the State Government’s decision to offer stamp duty relief to first homebuyers.Since July, more 10,000 first homebuyers in WA have received stamp duty relief.The ABS data also shows mortgage approvals were up 5.8 per cent in WA, with Victoria the only other state to record an increase, at 1.3 per cent.
