FOLLOWING five years of consultation, the WA Planning Commission has released a report which maps out infrastructure planning for greater Bunbury and the South West.
Central to Industry 2039: Greater Bunbury Industrial Land and Port Access Planning is the expansion of the Kemerton Industrial Park.
The core area of the park, located 25 kilometres north of Bunbury, will be expanded by 955 hectares – taking the total core area to 2,106 hectares.
The park will cover about 7,500 hectares in all including a 1,812 hectare buffer zone.
A conceptual industry plan has also been developed for the Kemerton Industrial Park.
This plan divides the core into areas for different categories of industries depending on their potential for various levels of emissions, noise and risk modelling.
Each parcel of land has been assigned a designation which can accommodate varying types of emissions.
Based on the report, a draft Greater Bunbury Region Scheme is being prepared by the WAPC under the guidance of the Greater Bunbury Region Planning Committee.
