Perth-based Subsea Engineering Associates has secured a $1.3 million contract to deliver its services to the Baltic Gas project in the Polish sector of the Baltic Sea.

The scope of work consists of front-end engineering of subsea pipelines including shore approach, trenching, risers and tie-ins.

Baltic Gas is a partnership established specifically for the Baltic Gas project, between CalEnergy Resources Poland, which is the project operator, and LOTOS Petrobaltic.

“The decision to proceed to the front end engineering design phase of works was a pivotal milestone on the path to commercialisation of the Baltic Gas project, where discovered gas assets have remained undeveloped for many years,” managing director of the CalEnergy Resources group of companies, Peter Youngs, said.

The work will be executed from SEA’s Perth office with assistance of Polish subcontractors.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for SEA to show that it can deliver low cost subsea developments in what is fast becoming a commercially prohibitive environment,” SEA project manager for the Baltic Gas project, Murdo Gillies, said.
