Southern Cross Electrical Engineering says it has won $20 million in new contracts and extensions since the start of the year, including a contract for work at BHP Billiton’s Jimblebar iron ore mine in the Pilbara.

In a brief statement today, the Perth-based contractor said it had been awarded a $10 million contract by the Sedgman-Civmec joint venture to provide electrical and instrumentation services at Jimblebar, as well as the design, supply and installation of an overhead powerline.

SCEE also said that since the start of the year it has been awarded a number of new contracts and extensions from various clients, totalling about $10 million.

Chief executive Graeme Dunn said the company looked forward to working with the Sedgman-Civmec JV at Jimblebar.

“Additionally, we remain well placed to continue our long standing exposure to the sustaining capital and maintenance activities within the resources sector as demonstrated by our recent wins,” Mr Dunn said.

SCEE shares closed 5.7 per cent higher at 37 cents each.
