SCEE joint venture up for $50m QLD LNG deal

Southern Cross Electrical Engineering’s liquefied natural gas arm is in line to win a $50 million contract at the Pacific LNG project on Queensland’s Curtis Island.

SCEE said today that Bechtel had provided its LNG-focused joint venture, KSJV, a limited notice of award for the works.

KSJV is a joint venture between SCEE and international contracting group Kentech.

“KSJV was formed to provide (electrical and instrumentation) services to the LNG sector and securing this first award is a milestone event for us,” SCEE managing director Simon High said.

“With six Australian LNG plants, including three on Curtis Island, having achieved final investment decision and scheduled to be completed over the next three to five years, the E& I construction peak in the LNG sector is still to come.”

At close of trade today, SCEE shares were up 5.5 per cent, at $1.04.
