FIVE young Western Australians have identified opportunities to diversify and enhance traditional agricultural industries after a study tour of Canada.
Participants on the Young Ambassadors tour included Dal-wallinu farmer Geln Carlshausen, beef producer Ben Forsyth, Kulin farmer Wade Hinkley, Narrikup farmer David Findlay and Manjimup training and placement officer Beth Abbott.
The tour was funded by the WA Government’s New Rural Generation program.
The group looked at new cash crops and visited the Winnipeg Commodity Exchange, Agri-Food Canada’s research farm, the Canadian Wheatboard and Lethbridge Research Centre.
