Opposition Leader Paul Omodei has called on the new federal government to expedite the delivery of election promises to Western Australia, including bringing forward the $100 million promised via the petroleum resource rent tax scheme.
Mr Omodei said in a statement he was concerned that the ALP's failure to win seats in WA would mean that it would be overlooked by the Federal Government despite the election promises.
Projects outlined by Kevin Rudd at the time of the announcement included the Bunbury Port Access Road, east-west road link to Geraldton, access to Esperance Port and the Albany ring road.
Mr Omodei called on the Premier to join his push to expedite the investment into WA.
"The ALP campaigned on making WA a priority but often, these kinds of promises fall by the wayside. You only need to look at the current Carpenter Government to see how easily promises are forgotten," Mr Omodei said.
"WA was promised $100 million via the petroleum resource rent tax, but that is not going to come into play for another 20-years.
"WA has massive infrastructure and investment needs that need to be looked at now, not in two-decades.
"I call on the new Federal Government to provide the promised $100 million within the next three years to enable WA put in place the infrastructure and investment needed to ensure we continue to be the nation's powerhouse economy.
"Hopefully the Prime Minister will not now ignore WA just because of his party's failure to win seats in WA.
"The federal government will be taking away AWAs which have been a significant contributor to WA's prosperity, the Prime Minister now needs to give something back.
"WA is currently the powerhouse of the nation and this has been driven by decisions made 30 years ago and decisions by businesses today.
"Unfortunately the boom is something the Carpenter Government has been happy to ride without giving anything back or planning how best to capitalise on these economic good times."
