Mr Romano and Gaye McMath will take up the last two vacant seats on the Perth Markets board, which is helmed by chairman Paul Omodei.
Former Skilled Group executive David Timmel was recently appointed CEO of Perth Markets, which was formed following the acquisition of the Perth Market Authority’s Market City.
Mr Romano will replace Mr Tana, who joined the board to assist with the bid for Market City and stepped down once the sales process was wrapped up.
Mr Tana and Mr Romano were former owners of fast food restaurant chain Chicken Treat.
Mr Romano, who has been appointed as a member of Perth Market’s remuneration committee, is also a director of the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation.
Ms McMath was, until recently, the long-serving chief operating officer of the University of Western Australia. She remains with UWA as its appointment to head the Perth Education City CBD project, which represents all WA universities in attracting quality student accommodation and facilities to the central city.
Ms McMath also spent nearly 25 years with mining giant BHP Billiton, serving in a number of senior executive roles.
She also sits on the boards of the Committee for Perth, the Perth Convention Bureau, and Gold Corporation.
Ms McMath has been appointed to the role of chair of the finance and audit committee for Perth Markets.
“The appointments of Gaye and Frank round out a well-balanced and highly professional board, which is perfectly structured to manage WA’s largest fruit and vegetable wholesale facility,” Mr Omodei said.
“We have achieved a smooth transition for Market City from a government-run entity to a privately-owned operation, after achieving settlement on time and on budget at the beginning of April, and our board is now moving at pace with strategic planning, master planning and engagement with industry and community.
“We are well-placed to maintain and grow operations and market share for this crucial facility going forward.”
PML’s board comprises six industry representatives –Trish Skinner, Rick Smith, Andrew Young, David Schirripa, Andrea Lemmon and Miro Lendich, as well as three independent representatives in Ms McMath, Mr Romano and Mr Omodei.
