Rockingham Hotel site sold for $11.6m

A beachfront site of more than a hectare, and home to the Rockingham Hotel, has been sold for $11.6 million, with a planned redevelopment understood to involve a well-known Perth publican group.

The buyer of the property has not been disclosed but it is understood that Three Pound Group, which operates five venues in Perth including The Camfield at Optus Stadium, has struck the deal.

It is understood the Rockingham Hotel, which was opened in 1886 and is heritage listed, as well as the associated Liquid Night Club, are both closed although the site's bottle shop and service station have remained open.

Mirco Bros Pty Ltd, a Western Australia-based agricultural business run by the Mirco family, was the vendor. It held the property since 1999 and had put it on the market in 2018, although it is understood it had been withdrawn after a year-long campaign.

The 1.15-hectare site overlooking Cockburn Sound extends between Rockingham Beach Road and Kent Street and is bounded to the north by Flinders Lane.

It was billed in real estate marketing campaigns a few years ago as the largest waterfront land parcel on the Rockingham foreshore.

Three Pound Group is a joint venture between the Brockwell Group and The Stables Bar owners Tony Buhagiar and Tim McLernon. The group owns The Camfield at Optus Stadium, The Stables in Perth city, The Reveley at Elizabeth Quay, Good Company Bar in Karrinyup and The Elford in Mount Lawley.
