Iron ore maganates Gina Rinehart and Andrew Forrest remain in the top 10 of the nation’s wealthiest people, according to the 2018 AFR Rich List, which included 20 Western Australians out of 200 people listed this year.

Iron ore maganates Gina Rinehart and Andrew Forrest remain in the top 10 of the nation’s wealthiest people, according to the 2018 AFR Rich List, which included 20 Western Australians out of 200 people listed this year.

Mrs Rinehart held her place as the third richest person in the country, with her fortune expanding from an estimated $10.4 billion last year to $12.68 billion in 2018.

Fortescue Metals Group founder Mr Forrest fell back two places to number eight after his wealth decreased from $6.84 billion down to $6.1 billion, with FMG's share price slightly down on this time last year.

Perron Group founder Stan Perron also lost ground, slipping from 10th to 15th this year, with his fortune valued at $3.99 billion.

Business tycoon Kerry Stokes, who chairs Seven Group Holdings and owns mining equipment supplier WesTrac, continued his rise up the rankings to sit in 13th spot, with wealth of $4.93 billion.

Mr Stokes jumped 11 places the year before.

Gina Rinehart’s eldest daughter, Bianca Rinehart, comes in at number 19 with a fortune valued at $3.28 billion.

Mineral Resources managing director Chris Ellison increased his wealth from $574 million up to $783 million this year and is now the 98th richest person in the country, according to the list.

Anthony Pratt came in at the top of the list, with a fortune worth $12.9 billion, while Meriton managing director Harry Triguboff placed second with wealth of $12.77 billion.
