Riethmuller joins Jones Day

Former Ashurst partner Paul Riethmuller has started at global law firm Jones Day as a partner in its projects and infrastructure practice in Perth.

Mr Riethmuller, who was previously a partner in Ashurst’s Perth office, will join nine lawyers who are currently working on major resources and infrastructure projects out of the Perth office, which was opened last year.

Jones Day partner-in-charge John Cooper said Mr Riethmuller brought nearly 30 years of experience and an impressive record of successful client engagement, while building further on the company’s capability in WA and nationally.

“Our projects and infrastructure practice is led by experienced partners, who all hail from major national firms,” Mr Cooper said.

Mr Riethmuller has advised clients on significant construction, energy, mining and infrastructure projects across Australia, providing guidance relating to contracts and tenders and issues arising from agreements.

He also brings experience in litigation and arbitration work.

Mr Riethmuller will join former Allens partner Stephen McComish and former Norton Rose Fulbright partner Simon Bellas, who are also partners at Jones Day’s Perth office.

Mr Riethmuller has also been on the council at John XXIII College in Mount Claremont since 2011.
