Retail auction site launched

ONLINE retail auction site uBid has been launched in Australia.

Real-time auctions, typically lasting between one and three days, are held to trade excess and end-of-line merchandise from brand-name manufacturers backed by warranties and guarantees.

The site is targeted at both consumers and small to medium-sized enterprises with product categories including sporting goods, homewares, computing equipment and consumer electronics.

Brand names traded include Sony, Panasonic, Krups, Moulinex, IBM, Yonex, Hewlett Packard and Philips.

UBid general manager for Australia and New Zealand Chris Hitching said bidding on most products started at $9 with no reserve price.
