Resources skills applied to real estate

A PERTH based company,, has been formed to provide local information about Perth’s suburbs using computer map-making skills developed for the resources industry.

The company uses digitally-created interactive suburb maps based on geographical information systems to display all the information required for consumers to make a home purchase or rental decisions.

Company founders Charlie Gunningham and Swiss investment banker Nick Streuli said the concept was very simple.

Mr Gunningham said: “The site is the first to provide locations of everything that might be useful to potential homebuyers, including schools, hospitals and sporting facilities.

“At present, the maps cover thirty-five of Perth’s western suburbs and Fremantle with new suburbs being added every month,” he said.

“For a small monthly sum per property, real estate agencies are invited to place their homes for sale or rent on the site. Other local businesses are also invited to have a presence on the maps, with the possibilities being almost endless.

“While the world is rushing to go global, we’re going local,” Mr Gunningham said.

Everyone can look around the maps, click on a house, have a look inside, maybe see a floor plan and read the owner’s personal story. Interested parties can then contact the agent concerned, he said.
