Residential Building Approvals
WESTERN Australia's seasonally adjusted residential building approvals decreased by 16.3 per cent to 1,742 between March and April, unwinding the spikes in February and March. Building approvals rose by 6 per cent in the 12 months to April 2004.
Across Australia, building approvals increased by 1.5 per cent to 14,296 between March and April. They have risen by 0.4 per cent in the past three months and rose by 1.4 per cent through the year to April 2004. The underlying trend estimate of approvals has been declining moderately for Australia since September 2003, and for WA since December.
