Perth-based Rent.com.au Pty Ltd has formed a partnership with internet company Yahoo!7 to provide a rich user experience for Australian renters and landlords.
Yahoo!7's will integrate its search, mapping and other services with Rent.com.au, which was launched by real estate entrepreneur Mark Woschnak early last year.
Mr Woschnak, chief executive of Rent.com.au said the partnership will help to address the continuing challenges faced by the rental accommodation sector.
"Whilst there have been major websites servicing the 'for-sale' property markets, the rental sector has generally been considered the 'poor second cousin' within the industry," Mr Woschnak said.
"This exciting new partnership is a fundamental paradigm shift, which moves renter issues and needs to the forefront of the real estate agenda.
"We believe that the partnership will not only assist renters, but also deliver a strategic solution for property managers, helping both independent and franchise agents to achieve their operational and strategic property management goals."
The fully integrated service will be launched in the near future.
Below is the full announcement:
Yahoo!7 and Rent.com.au Pty Ltd, Australia's leading dedicated rental property site, have announced a new partnership to benefit Australian renters and landlords.
The announcement follows the unveiling of the all-new Yahoo!7 last week and will result in Yahoo!7's 5.8 million1 users gaining direct and immediate access to tens of thousands of available rental properties across the country.
According to Bruno Fiorentini, Chief Operating Officer, Yahoo!7, there has been a dramatic shift towards an online renter market and the partnership with Rent.com.au will bring a new dimension to the company's service offering:
"The partnership with Rent.com.au will provide depth and focus to the renter community," said Mr Fiorentini.
"We plan to integrate the best of our search, mapping and other services with Rent.com.au, allowing us to continue to provide a rich user experience for our users.
"We have been impressed by the vision and innovation provided by Rent.com.au to the wider online renter demographic and look forward to promoting the service to our 5.8 million users each month."
Mr Mark Woschnak, Chief Executive Officer, Rent.com.au said the partnership highlights the strong synergies between Yahoo!7 and Rent.com.au users and will help to address the continuing challenges facing the rental accommodation sector:
"We are pleased to be the real estate partner of Yahoo!7 and to provide an exciting new level of service and greater access to the renter community," said Mr Woschnak.
"With the increasing demand for urgent rental accommodation and the acceptance of renting as a lifestyle choice, it's increasingly important for renters to have an easy, dedicated and logical place to find their next rental property.
"Whilst there have been major websites servicing the 'for-sale' property markets, the rental sector has generally been considered the 'poor second cousin' within the industry," said Mr Woschnak.
"This exciting new partnership is a fundamental paradigm shift, which moves renter issues and needs to the forefront of the real estate agenda.
"The growth of the vertical rental accommodation sector will continue and we need to be able to deliver fast, effective and sustainable services for renters, landlords and property managers.
"We believe that the partnership will not only assist renters, but also deliver a strategic solution for property managers, helping both independent and franchise agents to achieve their operational and strategic property management goals."
Mr Keith Wiseman, General Manager Franchising of the National Real Estate Franchisor group Richardson and Wrench (R&W) said that it was a logical choice to move all of its offices across to the rent.com.au website:
"The need to promote our vacancies online has never been greater and the ability to now offer our property management services to landlords across Australia via Rent.com.au and its partnership with Yahoo!7 is very attractive.
"The sales market has slowed down and it's times like this that real estate agents focus more on building their property management 'rent roll' business."
President of the Property Investment Owners Association of Australia, Mr John Moore, said that Rent.com.au signals a major step forward in the delivery of quality services available to landlords wanting to appoint a property manager:
"Knowing that their property will be professionally marketed online through a service like rent.com.au and now the extended user base of Yahoo!7, will result in an attractive win-win proposition for any investor wanting the best tenant and the best return."
Yahoo!7 users will be able to access rent.com.au and rental information immediately via www.yahoo7.com.au, with a fully integrated service scheduled to be launched in the near future.
