Of 487 building permits issued, 197 were for new dwelling approvals, accounting for $21 million, while 182 permits were issued for carports, garages or verandahs.
An additional 37 commercial units valued at $5.4 million were given approval.
The report indicates the South West accounted for 10 per cent of all building approvals in the State.
