Record domestic passenger numbers

PERTH Airport has posted a record 452,071 passengers travelling through the domestic terminals in April, up 11.9 per cent on the same month last year. The latest number beat the previous record month, set in January 2006, by almost 12,000 passengers and continues 44 consecutive months of domestic passenger growth. The increase in passenger numbers has brought some problems for the airport, however, particularly with regard to parking shortages. Earlier this month, Perth Airport CEO Graham Muir announced his resignation, coinciding with the facility’s owner Westralia Airports Corp Pty Ltd revealing plans for major review ahead of a replacement being appointed later this year. Mr Muir had been chief executive of Perth Airport since its privatisation in 1997. Perth Airport is undertaking a review of organisational and management requirements and expects to appoint a new chief executive later in the year.
