Perth mid-tier accounting firm RSM Bird Cameron has increased its focus on the Queensland market by merging with MHM Accountants in Brisbane.
Under the deal, 30 staff from MHM will join RSM Bird Cameron in what is the most recent of several acquisitions by RSM, with the Perth firm also recently acquiring businesses in Port Lincoln, South Australia and Ballarat, Victoria.
On July 1 RSM Bird Cameron acquired both Hallmark Accounting, a firm that has been servicing the Ballarat region since 1985, and the accounting practice of Paul Humphrys in Cleve, Port Lincoln.
RSM Bird Cameron now has 28 offices and almost 1,000 employees across Australia.
As part of the MHM merger, RSM Bird Cameron national head of business solutions Andrew Graham will move to Brisbane to lead the strategic push into Queensland.
RSM Bird Cameron national chairman Kim Hutchinson said the company's current expansion was part of a strategic growth plan for the firm.
"RSM Bird Cameron focuses on developing a truly national footprint across Australia," he said.
"Due to clients expanding their operations in Brisbane, including international clients, this merger has been a long-term strategic plan and the timing is ideal for the national practice.
"RSM Bird Cameron always looks for potential partnerships that complement the firm's culture and that will grow the business."
The Brisbane merger includes two partners Frank Manning and Peter Hickson and one principal, Tracy Herlily.
RSM Bird Cameron has also announced a promotion in regional Western Australia and a new partner appointment in Melbourne.
Keiran Sullivan, who headed up RSM Bird Cameron's expansion into Karratha, has been promoted to partner and Brad Hutchesson has joined the Melbourne office as a partner in the business solutions practice.
