Programmed has announced a partnership with Perth Symphony Orchestra (PSO), the first major arts organisation the business has partnered with.

The staffing, maintenance and project services business joins Tim Roberts, Automotive Holdings Group, The Minderoo Foundation, Scotch College and Edith Cowan University as partners of PSO.

Programmed has been a partner of the Fremantle Dockers since 1995 and a sponsor for the past eight seasons.

Incoming managing director Glenn Thompson said in a statement the partnership came about because of demand for the business to invest in the arts.

“Arts and culture provides the community with the opportunity to express themselves and increase creative thinking,” he said.

“Music automatically creates a sense of community and by partnering with the PSO we’re helping facilitate a culture of inclusion.”

Western Australia-based chemical company Coogee was also announced as an orchestra partner.

With $353 million in revenue, Coogee ranks 17th on BNiQ's list of large private companies.

PSO currently ranks 19th in the BNiQ list of arts and cultural organisations, with revenue of $1.5 million.

It receives no funding from the federal or state government, earning its revenue from partners, sponsors and ticket sales.

In its 2017-18 annual report, the orchestra reported receiving $248,840 from sponsorships.

PSO chief executive Bourby Webster praised Programmed in a statement, saying the partnership would help grow the organisation.

“We’re proud to be giving the community a chance to experience the magic of the symphony orchestra, and by partnering with Programmed we’re able to continue doing so,” Ms Webster said.
