Power outages hit 35,000 across WA

Power outages are affecting 35,000 residents across Perth and Western Australia's South West.

Western Power spokesman Paul Entwistle told 6PR radio the change in the weather caused the outage, with light rain triggering safety mechanisms.

He said power should be restored to most customers by the end of the day.

Is it not time Western Power were bought to account with all their bad service, out of control headworks charges and general indifference to their clients. I generally don't hold with disposal of public assets but in the Western Power case i can only see good coming out of it. These problems most often stem from their complete disregard to carrying out maintenance on their transmission grids. If they were to carry out general cleaning maintenance 90% of these problems would disappear. Lets get rid of a protected pack of fat cat public servants and their underlings. Sell Western Power as soon as possible - if we are going to be in the dark it may as well not be at the hands of a protected species - the "public servant"

Couldn't have said it better!
