Western Australia's automotive industry has registered a second straight month of strong growth in new vehicle sales relative to 2016, with solid increases in purchases of light and heavy commercial vehicles in November.
The monthly figures, released by the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries, show a 13.4 per cent rise in new vehicles sold compared with last November in WA.
Of the 8,685 vehicles sold, heavy commercial vehicle purchases rose 55.7 per cent relative to last year while light commercial vehicles increased 19.7 per cent to 1,896.
SUV sales also increased 11.6 per cent to 3,546 while passenger vehicles were up 8.8 per cent.
Despite the positive results, WA sales for the year-to-date remain 2.6 per cent behind last year, with 89,831 vehicles sold in 2017.
