Portal lands win

A GREAT Southern portal project has been awarded the Yellow Pages Regional Communities Award at the Asia Pacific Information Technology and Telecommunications presentations held in Perth recently.

The win came before the portal was even launched on the Internet.

The award judges said GateWAy had been recognised for “its unique approach to the task of empowering a whole regional community while simultaneously providing a nurturing environment to encourage all segments of regional business to develop and participate in the online regional economy.”

GateWAy’s regional project manger Gill Sellar said the judges had cited the project for its innovation in business plan development as well as leading-edge portal architecture.

The Albany GateWAy project is a partnership between Edith Cowan University, OpenSearch – a provider of IT solutions to business – and Albany Business Centre.
