Port Kennedy developer attacked by Minister

THE troubled Port Kennedy resort proposal has been taken to task by the WA Government which threatened to cancel the exclusive development rights over the land, south of Rockingham.

Planning Minister Graham Kierath has given the developers, Port Kennedy Resorts Pty Ltd 90 days to deliver on commitments it had given to the Government or risk losing the right to the project.

“The developers have consistently failed to meet the requirements of the agreement and the Government is not prepared to wait any longer,” Mr Kierath said.

It has been a forgettable month for the developers after Singaporean financier Pac-Asia Holdings Pty Ltd was granted a Supreme Court injunction freezing the company assets.

Last week Fleuris Pty Ltd – a major shareholder in PKR – was placed into liquidation, while PKR went into voluntary administration.

But not all appears lost for the project with former teen popstar Jermaine Jackson – now living in Perth showing an interest in the development of the site.
