Plexal awarded $15m Chevron contract

Plexal Group has underpinned the opening of its Bangladesh office by winning a $15 million contract to provide engineering services for Chevron.

The contract will begin with the construction and commissioning of Chevron's Muchai gas compressor station, in Bangladesh.

Under the contract, Plexal will receive $10 million before the end of 2011, with the balance paid in 2012 and 2013.

The Perth-based Plexal now has a presence in Thaland, China and Indonesia as well as Bangladesh, and the company said it is evaluating expansion opportunities in Vietnam and Malaysia.

Plexal Group executive director Dean Paton, who led the tender for the Chevron deal, is overseeing the establishment of the Bangladesh office and project team.
