Pilbara Minerals to buy Roy Hill camp

Aspiring lithium miner Pilbara Minerals has agreed to purchase Roy Hill Holdings’ dormant 300-person camp facility for use at its Pilgangoora project for an undisclosed sum.

The facility, which is currently located 90 kilometres from the Pilgangoora project, includes amenities such as wet mess, recreation and a gym.

The camp will be relocated in two stages, with the first being the moving of 56 rooms and amenities including the kitchen, dining, admin offices and laundry to Pilgangoora.

“The purchase of the camp presents an opportunity to establish a rapid site presence which will facilitate early works designed to support the company’s fast-track development strategy of Pilgangoora,” Pilbara said in a statement.

“The relocation will commence as soon as reasonably practical with the objective of having the camp fully commissioned by the end of April 2017.

“The purchase of Roy Hill’s Rail Camp 3 at a cost competitive price provides a significant capital saving for the Pilgangoora project compared to current replacement costs.”
