PERTH-based Talbora, trading as Phone Shop, is offering refunds to customers who bought novelty telephones that do not comply with Australian Communications Authority Standards.
Between October 1998 and February 2000, Phone Shop sold phones based on the characters Goofy, Mickey Mouse, Garfield, Elvis, Kermit and R2-D2.
Customers were told the phones could be connected to the public network. However, the phones did not comply with ACA standards and could not lawfully be connected.
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission issued a court-enforceable undertaking to put the refund process in place.
