Ampella Mining has appointed former WA Newspapers and Western Power chairman Peter Mansell as its new chairman following the departure of chairman and director Bill Ryan last month.
Ampella Mining has appointed former WA Newspapers and Western Power chairman Peter Mansell as its new chairman following the departure of chairman and director Bill Ryan last month.
Mr Mansell is currently the director of Bunnings Warehouse Property Trust and Euro international smelting and mining company Nyrstar NV.
"Ampella is making great strides in Burkina Faso, which is new territory and a new opportunity for Australian explorers," Mr Mansell said.
"I look forward to working with the Board and Management to chart the next steps as we set about developing the Company into being a substantial gold producer."
In a statement to the Australian Securities Exchange, Ampella also announced non-executive director Peter Williams will retire from the Board at the Company's AGM to be held later this month.
Mr Ryan left the company on October 26 and had been on the company's board since September 2008.

Ampella Mining Ltd (ASX: AMX), is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Peter Mansell as the Company's Non-Executive Chairman, effective immediately.
Mr Mansell is a corporate and resources lawyer with over 35 years experience. He is currently a director of ASX listed Bunnings Warehouse Property Trust and the multibillion Euro international smelting and mining company, Nyrstar NV.
Mr Mansell has a wealth of experience in the corporate arena.
Mr Mansell is a former chairman of ASX100 listed companies, West Australian Newspapers Ltd, and Zinifex Ltd as well as the chairman of Western Power. In addition, he has held directorships with OZ Minerals, Tethyan Copper Company Ltd plus Australian subsidiaries of AngloGold Limited.

Ampella also advises that Non-Executive Director, Mr Peter Williams, has announced his intention to retire from the Board at the Company's AGM to be held later this month. Mr Williams has been instrumental in the development of Ampella since he joined as a founding director and shareholder in 2007. Mr Williams remains a supportive substantial shareholder of the Company.
