PERTH residents may bemoan a lack of life in the central city, but the Western Australian capital was ranked fourth most liveable city in the world, according to analysis by the Economist Intelligence Unit. Cities in Canada and Australia dominated the index, with Vancouver heading the list, followed by Melbourne, Vienna, Perth, Toronto, Adelaide and Sydney. Low crime, stable government, low threats of terrorism, highly developed transport and communications were key factors in the high rankings of Perth and other Australian capitals.
